Wayne Lynn Johnson, 63, of Lynchburg passed away Friday, September 29, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Mary Laird Johnson.

Born in Lock Haven, PA, he was the son of Louise Haagen Johnson of Beech Creek, PA and the late Harold Johnson. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Jeremy Clark and his fiancé Amanda Rogers of Lynchburg; two brothers, Barry Johnson and wife Karen of Blanchard, PA and Dale Johnson and wife Susan of Beech Creek, PA; one sister, Joy Ketcham and husband Kurt of Beech Creek; one grandson, Andrew and a number of nieces and nephews.

After moving to Lynchburg in the 70's, Wayne began his teaching career at Jefferson Forest High School where he also served at the school's first wrestling coach, an assistant football coach and Athletic Director. He later taught and coached in Amherst County and retired from the Lynchburg Public Schools. He was also a member of the Colonial Officials Association and he refereed area High School Football games, Wrestling matches and umpired area softball games for over 30 years. He was a member of Memorial Christian Church.

A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Memorial Christian Church with the Rev. Virgil Knipp and the Rev. Sue Knipp officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 p.m. at the Church.

Services and burial will be conducted Sunday, October 8, 2017 in Pennsylvania.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to his home church, Monument Church of Christ, P.O. Box 150, Beech Creek, PA 16822.
