Wiley Hugh King passed from this life on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Paris Healthcare Center. He was born on October 12, 1927, near Glory, TX, in Lamar County, to James Wiley and Gladys King. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Bobbie Ruth King, a sister, Thelma Humphrey, 2 grandsons, Isaac Paul Cleere & Fredrick Harold King, and a great grandson, Joshua Michael Unger.
Growing up on a farm in Glory, he served in the US Army at the end of World War II. He married Gearldene Fay Grimes and together they gave life to five children. In 1964 he married a second time to Catherine Marie Haney. He came to faith in Christ as an adult in his early 30's and has followed Him faithfully these many years. He sought to honor his Lord and provide for his loved ones through hard work and a pursuit of excellence in whatever he did. He cherished memories of work at Lamar Creamery and later at Superior Switchboard from which he retired. Always busy in his off time with his church life and with yard work, he loved helping others. To the very end he wished he could do more to relieve the suffering of those he knew to be in need. He finally made it back to Glory and we are confident he finds it truly glorious.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Catherine King, and four children: David King of West Virginia; Cathy Cleere and husband, Jack, of Reno; Danny King and wife, Janet, of Paris; and Michael King and wife, Carol, of Paris. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home just prior to the funeral. He will be buried at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Petty, TX.
