William Clifton "Skeeter" Loden, Jr., age 89, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born November 14, 1928 in Hazlehurst, MS, and was raised in McCondy, MS. He graduated from Hazlehurst High School and Mississippi State University. He served as agency manager for Farm Bureau Insurance Company in Clay and Pontotoc Counties for more than 41 years. He worshiped at the Church of Christ where he served as an Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a past member of the Lions Club and the Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was an avid golfer and planted many trees on golf courses in West Point and Pontotoc.

Services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Minister Jay Street and Minister Doug Greenway officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point, MS. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Mary Evelyn Maxwell Loden, of Tupelo, MS; one son, Duke Loden and his wife Donna, of Tupelo, MS; two daughters, Kathy Davis and Jolayne Loden, both of Tupelo, MS; one grandson, Reed Loden, of CA; one sister, Ann Vickery Arrington and her husband Larry, of Houston, MS; three nieces and their spouses; two step-sons, Allen Maxwell and his wife Margaret and Doug Maxwell and his wife Tina; and five step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clifton Loden, Sr., and Kathryn Brand Loden; his wife of 52 years and the mother of his children, Georgene Dukeminier Loden; a son-in-law, James Ira Davis; and a brother-in-law, Hugh Pate Vickery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Castleberry, Walker Dukeminier, Buddy Eubank, Kenneth Rackley, Jeff Scoville, Eddie Thaggard, Danny Turner and Malcolm Wesson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Arrington, Benny Barber, Charles "Sonny" Brand, John Collins, Ronnie Crosswhite, Larry Fruge', Skip Prentiss, and all of his coffee drinking and golfing buddies in Pontotoc and Tupelo.

Visitation will be Monday from 1:30 to 4:30 at the West Main Church of Christ in Tupelo, MS and on Tuesday from 1 to 2 PM at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc.
