William E. Spinden, Jr., 77, of Bellefonte, passed away on October 31, 2009 at Home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of: Marie Hoffman Spinden with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late: William E., Sr. and Isabelle Springer Spinden. William attended Brown Vocational High School and worked as an Oil Burner Technician for Paschall’s, Shellhorn and Hill, Sun Oil, American Petroleum and Stapleford. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, an avid Phillie’s fan; enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, walking, country music and his pug Zenobia. He was a member of St. Helena’s Church. He coached CYO and little league and was a volunteer for lunchroom and playground duty at Pope John Paul II School.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by his children: William E. III (Laura), Susan Sentman, Kelly Lam, Jayne Davenport, Mary Lynn Trikaliotis (Kostas), Andrew (Sue), Jennifer Brooks (Ed); grandchildren: Nicole, Jessica, Meghan, Lena, Maria, Dimitri, Tyler, Josh, Ryan, Alex, Melissa, Erin, Adrianna and Jillian; great grandchildren: Jalyn, Natalie, Noah, Joseph, Ava, Julian, Konstantinos and Kristopher; brother: Robert (Chris) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Doris Bartlett, Edna McCready and Sarah Jane Golden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Beeson Funeral Home, 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington DE. The funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Helena’s Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington DE 19809. Interment will be at Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
