William Edward Davis of Electra passed peacefully on July 22, 2017 in Wichita Falls.

William was born on June 11, 1933 in Powell, Texas to Velma and Alvin Davis. He grew up in Electra and graduated from Electra High School. While stationed in Newfoundland, Canada, he met his wife, Mary White. They were married in Stephenville, Newfoundland on January 25, 1955. They had four children and were married for 55 years. While in the Millitary, William was seargeant first class- E-7. He completed 2 tours in Vietnam as a Platoon Seargeant. After his retirement from the military, he worked for the City of Electra and the Electra School District. After the passing of his wife Mary in 2010, he was remarried to Joyce Jones.

William was a devoted Christian and was a member of Electra Church of God for many years. He later became a member of the First Assembly of God in Electra. He was a kind man, who would do anything for anyone without hesitation. He loved to work in his garden and could grow, build, or fix anything. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary; wife Joyce; son John; sister Billie Jean; and his parents.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Underwood and husband Stanley of Burkburnett, Joseph Davis of Iowa Park, and Danny Davis and wife Melisa of Ft. Worth; his grandchildren, Branson, Mindy, Dayshanette, and Destiny; and great grandchildren, Presley-Ann, Kinley, Brandon, and Cayson.

The family will be taking visitors on Tuesday from 6-8 at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park. Services will be held at Dutton Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls. www.duttonfuneralhome.com

William was born in the house of his maternal grandparents Silas and Racheal Vernon. In 1937 during the oil boom days his family moved to Electra Texas. He attended the Sunshine Hill School a real one room school house near Electra when his dad worked on the Foster Farm and lived on the Foster place. Hes family moved all around Electra. William graduated from Electra High School. IN 1952 he enlisted in the United states Army which he retired from in !975. While stationed as a attachment to the Airforce in Stephenville Newfoundland Canada he met his first wife Mary White they were married on May 23, 1955 in Stephenville. Children followed Patricia in 1958, Joe in 1960, Danny in 1962, John in 1964. He returned to Electra his family while he was in Vietnam.
William retired in 1975 and returned to Electra to be near his family. William attended the Church of God in Electra for many years and enjoyed singing with his wife Mary. Later he attended the Assembly Of God in Electra where he made many friends who were more like family. When his wife Mary was on dialysis he near failed to get her to treatments. In 2010 Mary passed away and he married Joyce Jones while in their 80s they celebrated four years of happiness until her death in 2015. William was a devoted father to his children and grandchildren and was always there to help when ever needed. William loved his Lord with all his heart and read the Bible cover to cover tow times a year.
