PERKINS, William Edward, Jr., 72, of Midlothian, Va., passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at his home. Bill was born in Lynchburg, Va. on August 11, 1945 to the late William E. Perkins Sr. and Claytie Perkins. He is survived by his brother, Robert M. Perkins (Maxine) of Yuma, Ariz.; nieces, Brooke Volkening (Scott Volkening), Tracy Perkins; and his cousin, Theresa Perkins. Bill attended Virginia Tech and worked for many years in management for Miller and Rhoads in Lynchburg, then in Richmond at the downtown Broad Street store. He also worked for several other companies in accounting, bookkeeping and collections. He was an active member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 2, at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, 1919 New Market Rd., Richmond, Va. He will be buried in Lynchburg at Fort Hill Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 3. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Laurel Hill UMC.
