William (Bill) Edward Polk passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Wesley Village in Denison, Texas. The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home for visitation from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30th.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas, with Rev. Jerry Coffman, Rev. Chris Cowen, and Oklahoma State Representative Pat Ownbey officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Chris Cowen, Pat Ownbey, Scott Ownbey, Will Suttle, Will Perkins and Joe Ownbey.

Bill was born in DeQueen, Arkansas, on April 26, 1930, to Hazel and Hubert Polk. He began his work career at the age of twelve working at the cinema, the bakery, and the drug store. After graduating from high school in DeQueen, he entered a four-year program with Kansas City Southern Railroad and finished as a diesel machinist. Later he moved to the Odessa, Texas area and worked for Amoco Production Company for 32 years, ending his service as a Senior Production Supervisor. He retired from Amoco in 1986 and moved to Denison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Hubert Polk, Sr., his brothers, Hubert Polk, Jr., and Richard Polk, and two special aunts, Eleanor Chastain and Ivy Smith.

Mr. Polk is survived by his loving wife, Alice Olena Polk of 67 years and by his two daughters, Shara Cowen and husband Chris and Kathy Ownbey and husband Pat. He has three grandchildren, Amy Suttle and husband Will, Scott Ownbey and wife Megan, and Susan Perkins and husband Will. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Gretchen Suttle, Anna Kate Ownbey, and Maddox and Liam Perkins. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church, Parkside Pacesetters, and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He enjoyed studying the Bible with this group of men, and he enjoyed many trips with the Pacesetter group until his health forced him to slow down.
