THOMPSON, William Edward Jr., 61 of Midlothian, VA passed away unexpectedly and went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Laura Player Thompson; his son, Patrick Adam Thompson; his daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Thompson; and his sister, Linda Thompson Rice. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Charlotte Mitchell Thompson and William Edward Thompson, Sr.

In 1978, Bill graduated from VCU with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He spent many years in the food business building lifelong friendships while working for Ukrop's, Nestle, Joe Dell Brokerage, PIA Merchandising, and Advantage Sales & Marketing. Recently better known as the "Tutor Doctor," Bill spent the past 7 years running a tutoring franchise and helping students of all ages reach their full potential. He was an active member of Salisbury Presbyterian Church, where he thoroughly enjoyed singing in the choir, working in the garden, and helping the men's cook team whip up an exceptional monthly breakfast.

Additionally, Bill enjoyed many years coaching little league baseball and even a few years of running the concession stand for the James River High School baseball games. Needless to say, Bill Thompson set the bar high for ballpark food. He will be remembered as a man who loved golf, his daily crossword puzzle, cheering on the VCU Rams, a good popsicle, and wowing people with his culinary expertise. Bill could sing, dance, and fix just about anything, and he will truly be missed.

The family will receive friends between 5 and 7 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113. A celebration of life will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Salisbury Presbyterian Church, 13621 W. Salisbury Road Midlothian, VA 23113 immediately followed by a reception in the SPC F&E Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salisbury Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
