William Frederick "Bill" Thomas 89, of Marlborough, NH, died on December 27, 2017 at the Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, NH, following a brief illness.

He was born in Wolfeboro, NH on October 31, 1928, the son of Chester and Effie Thomas. He attended elementary school in Tuftonboro, NH, and graduated from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. Bill was a graduate of Keene State College in Keene, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree.

He served three years in the US Air Force in 1946-1949.

He worked in Point Barrow, Alaska as well as Big Delta. He also did highway construction in Plymouth, NH and North Woodstock, VT. He later worked as an engineer with MPB Corporation in Keene, now known as Timken Corp.

He was a trustee for the Frost Free Library in Marlborough and was responsible for raising money for the present addition to the library. Bill served on the Marlborough Recreation Committee and also served in the Marlborough Boy Scouts with his sons. He received the Scoutmaster of the year award for Cheshire County. He also coached little league and Babe Ruth Baseball teams in Marlborough.

William was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 819 of St. Bernard Church. He worked on the council's bingo events for 30 years; was past Grand Knight of Council 819; and was past Faithful Navigator of the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Assembly Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He was also the former District Deputy and received the District Deputy of the year award for 1986-1987. Bill also received the State Knight of the year for 1988-1989; was honoree for the NH State Council convention banquet in 1993; served as State Treasurer for the NH State Council for two years; and was NH State Council Warden for two years. He also served as State Program Director; State Membership Director; State Family Life Director; New Council Development Chairman; and Forms and Awards Chairman. He was also a member of the First Degree Team; Second Degree Team; Third Degree Team; and Fourth Degree Team.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Theresa L. (Lampron) Thomas of Marlborough; a brother, Irving Thomas of Garland, TX; four sons, Steven I. Thomas and his wife, Charlene, of Marlborough, Bruce W. Thomas of Puyallup, WA, James W. Thomas and his wife, Gail, of Troy, NH, Paul W. Thomas and his wife, Lynne, of North Hampton, NH; a daughter Linda J. Mooney and husband, Patrick, of Marlow, NH; a grandson, Robert W. Thomas of Marlborough; his granddaughters, Alyssa M. Thomas of Keene, Mary E. (Thomas) Leung of Wilmington, MA, Asacia Thomas of Puyallup, WA, Annette L. Williams of Unity, NH, Jessica M. Thomas of Troy, Amy T. Williams of Swanzey, NH, Hannah G. Thomas of North Hampton, NH, and Mikayla N. Thomas of Puyallup, WA; and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Newhall; and a grandson Samuel G. Thomas.

A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00AM in the St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keene will be held in the spring.
