William J. Gorman Sr., 95, retired Navy Veteran.

Uncasville - William (Bill) J. Gorman Sr., 95, died of natural causes on May 14, 2017 at his home. Bill was born March 3, 1922.

Bill grew up in New London, CT and married his wife Elaine (Chabot) Gorman on Sept.6, 1956. They shared 55 years of marriage before Elaine's passing May 5, 2012.

Bill attended Chapman Technical in New London and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Bill served his military years with distinction and retired as a Naval Chief Torpedo Man. He received several commendations for his dedication and bravery. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Navy reflected on his ability, initiative and loyalty to duty, and continued throughout his entire life.

Following military service, Bill went on to work for the State of CT at Seaside in Waterford, CT. He managed the A.R.C. Center in Preston, CT until his second retirement.

Bill's passion was working in the yard, projects around the house, and loved watching UCONN Women's basketball.
He was an avid reader of novels about World War II and the Korean War after his retirement.

He is survived by his son William J. Gorman Jr. and his wife Sandra of Niantic, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his wife, Elaine (Chabot) Gorman, his son Timothy Gorman, a brother Jack Gorman, and a sister Eleanor Hicks.
