Graveside services for William Jobe Burnett, 73, of Zavalla, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 in the Zavalla Cemetery, with Reverend Bill Lanigan officiating.
Mr. Burnett was born September 15, 1942 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of the late Janet Charters (MacMundo) and Earl Ray Burnett. He passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Burnett was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and never met a stranger. He was a great man and provider. He graduated from high school in Auburn, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Army in Utah and Germany. He worked for Hulcher Emergency Service, operating heavy equipment for 25 years and was a commercial painter for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Diann Burnett of Zavalla, whom he married on December 31, 1961; daughters and sons-in-law, Tobie Jo and Kraig Rainwater of Zavalla and Traci Dee and James Toler of Richmond; son and daughter-in-law, Tony Ray and Jamie Burnett of Huntington; grandchildren; Natalee Rainwater, Noell and Josh Husband, Nathan Rainwater, Katherine and Avery Schroeder, Sarah Toler, Dezirae, Brennan and Dominique Burnett; great-grandchildren, Jason Toler, Lincoln Toler and Karleigh Husband.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Wimpen; and brother, Earl Ray Burnett.
Pallbearers will be James Toler, Kraig Rainwater, Brennan Burnett, Nathan Rainwater, Avery Schroeder, Tony Burnett, Jason Toler, and Josh Husband.
