William "Jiggy" J. Rigby, 89, of Fairhaven passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 in Alden Court. He was the loving husband of the late Mildred "Millie" Church (Palmer) Rigby with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late William and Albina (LeBlanc) Rigby he grew up there and lived most of his life in Fairhaven.

Mr. Rigby served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. During that time he served in Germany, Japan, and Korea. Jiggy worked many years delivering milk for Hood's Milk. He later worked in maintenance at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and he was known as The Horseshoe King.

He is survived by a step son, Geoffrey Purvis and his wife Ingrid of Lakeland, FL; two sisters, Veronica Anger of AZ and Barbara Connell of NV; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Doris Glenday, Ethel Porter, Evelyn Wilbur and Florence, Warren, and Norman Rigby.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 7, 2016 9-10:15 am in the Waring-Sullivan at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by his Funeral Service at 11 am in Grace Episcopal Church, 133 School St., New Bedford followed by burial in Rural Cemetery. www.waring-sullivan.com for online tributes/directions.
