William Leland "Lee" Nettles, 56, passed away on March 12, 2012, after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. A native of Portsmouth, VA, he is the son of Caroline G. Nettles and the late Henry T. Nettles. Lee was a machinist at NNSY Shop 31 and a member of Sunray Farmers Association. He was an avid hiker, enjoyed music, fishing and gardening. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol L. Nettles; a son, Brandon L. Jeffries of Chesapeake, VA; and two daughters, Rhonda L. Hancock, and Carissa L. Nettles. He will also be missed by his "nurse dogs" Sheba and Schatzi. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, with Pastor Roger Marvel officiating. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens afterwards. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
