William "Bill" Kiger, of Springmoor Drive in Raleigh, passed away peacefully on October 9. He was predeceased by his wife of over 45 years, Ann Crabtree Kiger.

Bill served in the U S Army for two years as a special agent in the Counter Intelligence Corps in Korea. He returned from the service and attended Duke University where he graduated in 1952, and then began a lifelong career in the men's retail clothing industry. For over two decades Bill and his wife Ann owned The Stagg Shop Ltd. a Raleigh landmark on Hillsborough Street, where he fashionably dressed many young men at NC State University and gentlemen all over Raleigh.

He was an active member of Highland United Methodist for over 50 years where he could be seen almost every Sunday greeting people and serving as an usher. Also he was a member of William G. Hill, Masonic Lodge No. 218 for many years where he served in various capacities including Worshipful Master in 1979.

Bill enjoyed woodworking, photography, and "watching the stock market", but most of all he enjoyed ACC football and basketball, especially when his alma mater Duke University was playing.

A Commitment Service will be held at 12:00 noon on October 13, 2017 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Raleigh Memorial Park on Glenwood Avenue. A Memorial Service will then be held at 2:00 pm at Highland United Methodist Church, followed by a reception for those who wish to stay and exchange stories and memories of Bill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in William's memory may be made to Highland United Methodist Church Building Fund - 1901 Ridge Road - Raleigh, NC 27607.
