William Mike Green passed away August 26, 2017 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis TN, due to complications of a stroke. He was born November 15, 1934 to Joseph Walker Green and Mary Etta Michael Green. He was a dedicated worker, of which, many of his years he was employed at the local Brown Shoe Company in Booneville MS, before moving on to working with the Tenn- Tom Waterway during its construction. He finally retired from Chemical Waste Management facility in Emelle AL, where he was lead over the heavy equipment shop. After returning home to MS, he was a part time security officer at local manufacturing plants in the area. He had a love for planting and tending to his garden and sharing the harvest with his loved ones. He was best known for his kind heart and his jokingly witty comments.
He is survived by one son, Michael Green (Helen), three daughters, Mary Mitchell (Reece), Darlene Dunaway (Tracy) and Michelle Smith (Jason Cummings), 7 grandchildren, Charlotte Stegall (John), Justin Green (Megan), Kayla Gray (Richard), Amy Taylor (Lee), Christopher Downs, Cody Smith, and Aaron Dunaway, 10 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and Edith Green, whom he remained close to, up until his final days.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Elizabeth Green, his father Joseph Walker Green, his mother, Mary Etta Michael Green, his beloved brothers, Joe Frank Green (Hettie), Gerald Bennette Green, Luther Reed Green, Bonnard Curlee Green (Lillian), Jim Henry Green (Ollie Mae) and his sister Ann Marie Green Chase (Troy).
Visitation will be held Tuesday August 29, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home, and funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at McMillan Funeral Home with his very close friend Bro. Ronnie Cartwright alongside Bro. Ray Hall officiating. Burial will be at the Jumpertown Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
