Bill will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038 immediately following the service.
Bill was born October 19th, 1933 in Memphis,Tennessee to William and Violet Hurley. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas in 1951 and went on to marry his High School sweetheart June Louise Pedigo Hurley and remained married until she passed 24 years ago of cancer. Bill served in the Army from 1955-1957 and received the "Good Conduct Medal" as well as an "Honorable Discharge."
Bill enjoyed a full and rewarding 35 year career in the lumber department at Berings Home Center and retired 20 some years ago. Though, he would have gladly spent his retirement days on a secluded lake surrounded by big mouth bass, he wouldn't have traded the time he spent living with and becoming a daily part of his son, Evan Hurley's family for the last 18 years where he was loved, cared for and wanted by all friends and family.
His "child-like" laugh and sweet spirit were contagious and brought a joy to all who knew him. He enjoyed tinkering with his latest computer quests and dabbling in genealogy over the years. Spending time with his grandkids and convincing them to sneak him ice cream became a game everyone seemed to willingly engage in and will remember fondly. Weekly trips to church proved to be an adventure that will now provide a lifetime of cherished memories.
Bill is survived by his son, Evan Hurley, daughter Valerie Bishop and daughter in law, Pam Hurley; 6 grandchildren Britten, Randy, Lauren, Ashlynn, John, Danielle.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Violet Hurley, wife June Hurley and sister Ginny Mandle.
