Surrounded by her faith, children, and grandchildren, our little mama passed away Monday, June 25, 2012. She was 87.

She was born in Badger, Minn., in 1925, to Oliver and Helga Erickson, and was the youngest of eight children. She was a proud, strong Norwegian.

Having graduated from Teachers Training School, she began teaching near Greenbush, Minn. While teaching there, mom was introduced to dad by a friend. After dating for two years, they were married at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in 1945. They were married for 54 years and loved to dance a good polka! They had eight children, Peter (Peggy), Richard (Jill), Barbara (Hugh), Greg, Mary (Ev), Roger (Lynn), Jan (Gene), and Laurel (Greg); 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandkids.

Mom loved Applegate School where she taught in the Chapter I program, helping kids who needed her special attention. She never met a baby she didn't talk to. Mom was a great cook and we all remember her homemade bread and lefse. It was no coincidence many neighbors stopped by on baking days! The coffee pot was always on.

Her family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff and community at Fountain Plaza, the loving caregivers at Providence Medford Medical Center, Father Jim, Brent Crowe, the "communion ladies," and Apple Hill.

Please join her family to honor this wonderful lady on Sunday, July 1, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at Applegate School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Friends of Applegate School" in memory of Wilma Marcoulier at Applegate School, 14188 Hwy. 238, Applegate, OR 97530. Arrangements by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Luke 18:16
