Wilna Jean Ransdell
October 2, 1936 - February 16, 2017

Wilna Jean Ransdell, 80 years old, of Armona, California, passed away on February 16, 2017.

Wilna was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on October 2, 1936. She attended more schools then she could remember before attending Lemoore High School where she met the love of her life Dale Ransdell. They married on July 16, 1952 and lived in many states while Dale served in the U.S. Air Force. After Dale's discharge from the Air Force, they settled in Armona where they lived the remainder of their lives. They were married 59 years before Dale's passing in 2011.

Wilna worked as a secretary for the Armona School District for over 17 years. She loved her job and was sad to have to retire due to disability. She made many lifetime friends during her time at the school that she cherished greatly. Throughout her years, she enjoyed ceramics, many different arts and crafts, bunco, but her two favorite things were fishing and playing Pinochle. She was always looking for anyone that wanted to go fishing and all of her children were required to learn to play Pinochle so she could continue to play for many years. She still played on her iPad up until the last few months of her life.

She was also involved for many years in the Armona Little League running the concessions from the first year it began and for many years thereafter. She belonged to the Armona Lady Lions and worked tirelessly for many years on the annual Mother's Day Parade and Lunch. Wilna and Dale were honored to be named the Armona King & Queen in 2001.

Wilna was most proud of being a wife, mother, grandma, and granny. She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren and loved all of the time she was able to spend with them playing, watching all of their sporting events, and just hanging out.

Wilna is survived by her son Greg Ransdell and wife Donna of Kentucky, her daughter Pam Raeber and husband Mike of Visalia, her sisters Barbara Richwine and Norma Mathis of Hanford, six grandchildren (Kari Anderson Ransdell & Wife Jen of Hanford, Amy Ransdell of Kentucky, Dana Wales and husband Dustin of Visalia, Mathew Ransdell and wife Katie of Visalia, Scott Ransdell and wife Clare of Georgia, and Lee Ransdell and wife Rui of Japan.
