Woodrow "Woody" Bearden Jr., 68, of Hawley, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at a local nursing center in Abilene. Memorial services will be at 11:00a.m., Monday, January 27, 2014 at Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St.

Woody was born on September 10, 1945 in Anson, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Gloria June Hallmark, on October 18th, 1972 in Odessa. They were married for thirty six years. His jobs included being an oil field consultant, driving a cattle truck with his brother, and retiring after driving a dump truck in 2007. Spending time with his grandchildren and family was what he loved doing. He also loved to drink coffee and visit with his "Mom's Diner" family. Woody became ill and moved in with his sister, Kathy, in 2010.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria June Bearden; his parents, Johnny and Olean Grisham; and a brother, Donny Bearden.

Woody is survived by his sons, Ricky Copeland and wife, Terry of Houston, TX, Rodney Wheeler and wife, Mary Jane of Hawley, TX; sisters, Kathy Vinson and husband, Kenneth of Hawley, TX, Jeanie Binkley and husband, David of Lake Palestine, TX; grandchildren, Stacy and Steven Wheeler, Cheyenne Copeland, and Jeannie Demmer; and eleven great- grandchildren.
