Yvonne Renee Bedard-Barker, 49, passed away December 25, 2017. She was delivered by her late grandmother Annie Bedard on September 11, 1968 in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Yvonne grew up in Greenfield, MA and Falmouth, Maine where she graduated high school. She moved to Norfolk in 1984 and attended beautician school and worked at Rudy & Kelly and Whitmans. In 1991 she met her best friend and the love of her life Johnny Barker.

Von started her TRICARE career in 1992 as a Healthcare Finder at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. She continued supporting the TRICARE program through its transition from BC/BS, to Humana and then to Health Net Federal Services. In her last few years, she was a Provider Network Manager with Health Net Federal Services supporting both the TRICARE and Veterans Affairs contracts. Last February, Von volunteered to go to Alaska to build the T2017 Network. She continue her Alaska focus by mentoring the PNM hired for Alaska in April.

In 2015 and 2016, Von supported the PCCC program by building the network in VISNs 7 and 8, which included Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.

She was an avid knitter, reader, organizational diva. She will be always be remember by her family and friends for wanting them to participate in her pursuits, such as Weight Watchers, watching Ice Road Trucker and Downton Abbey, and mystery knit alongs.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her mother Sherell Baker and her best friends Peanut and Ollie.
Survivors include her loving husband of 25 years, Johnny Ray Barker; her father Joseph Bedard; daughter Mackenzie Bailey Barker and Brandon Beebe; a son Kalem Drew Barker and wife Pamela; a granddaughter Riley Jade Barker; brother Mike Bedard; step sister Lisa May; step mother Diana Martel Bedard; step brother Phillip; aunt Linda "Nonnie" and uncle Bill Bedard; mother-in-law Alice S. Barker and best friends Cooter and Bella.

A Celebration of Yvonne's life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made Mackenzie's Educational Fund being set up. Checks should be made out to Mackenzie Barker's Educational Fund and mailed to 1407 Graydon Place, Norfolk, VA 23507.
