NELSON – Ray Albus, 72 of Nelson died Friday June 29, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on October 22, 1945 in Rock Falls, the son of Virden Elmer and Viola Mae (Marshall) Albus and was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served in Vietnam from October 22, 1965 – September 29, 1967. Ray married LuAnn Lawrence on July 14, 1977 in Dixon. He was employed for 32 ½ years at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co retiring as a brick layer. Ray was a life member of the Rock Falls VFW and served as post Commander; and a member of the D.A.V. He enjoyed attending auctions, playing cards, cutting / splitting wood, and sitting in the driveway drinking beer.
Survivors include his wife, LuAnn; his daughter Carrie (Phil) Conderman; his sons: Curtis Albus (Sheila Kurten) and Kyle Albus; two granddaughters: Hannah June and Hailey Rae Conderman and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Burial was at Nelson Cemetery. There was no visitation. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
